So, what should be in a contractor’s first aid kit?
- Sterile wipe to help clean cuts or wounds to prevent infection from any possible bacteria.
- Gauze pads to put on any injuries. You want pads in a few different sizes to be able to cover different size wounds. Roller bandages are good to have too.
- Regular Band-Aids.
- A saline solution to flush out wounds or chemicals/debris in the eyes.
- Disposable gloves. The gloves can be used when you are treating someone else’s injury to keep you from touching their blood and to protect them from any bacteria you have on your person.
- Tweezers. The tweezers can help you pluck out debris from a person’s wound.
- Scissors. They can be used to cut bandages or tear clothing.
- Triangular bandages to wrap sprained ankles, broken bones, or a head injury.
- Bacitracin. This is an over-the-counter antibiotic that can help prevent infection in minor cuts, burns, and scrapes.
- Bandage tape to help gauze stay on.
